The Unconditional Love of Pets: A Lesson in Simplicity

Dear Jack,
Why is it easier to love an animal than a human being?

We animals are all about love. Pets come into your life to create love in your heart where there was not enough love before. Love without condition. Love that lives through every possible circumstance. Love that lasts forever. God created animals to become pets to serve this purpose.

We already know what we need to know when we are born. We know that we come to love, to teach love and to be loved. Human love, on the other hand, is different. Imperfect. Humans, if they haven’t given up on love completely, are often seeking perfect love all their lives while loving with an imperfect love. They seek someone who will love them, need them; they want someone who is loyal until the end of time. Pets are just easier to love because, well, we are pretty much perfect! We love you, we need you; we are loyal until the end of time. By loving you unconditionally, it makes it easy for you to love us in return the very same way.

Everyone everywhere is positioned for love; humans and pets alike. Love is why you live this life. Life is like a treasure map. Not everyone is open to following along an unexpected course full of twists and turns in the road. A lot of people want to stay safe on the straight and narrow sidewalks of life. That’s okay. Let them. They are on their journey and you are on yours. But when you keep an open mind, life can change in a moment no matter how or where you walk. When love takes you by surprise along the way -- whether it’s a person or a pet -- it’s important to pay attention. Love plants a seed of desire in your heart so that you can fulfill your destiny. Desire is how you know which way to go and what road to take. Be sure to follow your bliss.

“Human love is very different. Imperfect. Animals already know what they need to know. They know that they come to love and teach love. They fill a heart with love where there was no love before.”
