A Date with Gina over the Rainbow Bridge
Driving for what seemed like unending miles through rural Tampa, Florida, I finally reached my destination — where I was going to pick up my new little baby Yorkie, Andre.
Andre was born July 2011 into a loving Christian family and I chose him because he was the smallest of his siblings. I felt a connection with him immediately.
I anxiously parked my car and ran into his home full of delirious anticipation of holding him in my arms and taking him home to join my family in Miami.
Andre came running towards me — however just behind him, nipping at his tail while bobbing up and down, I saw another cute little Yorkie with the sweetest face and a little bow in her hair.
This is Gina. Andre and her are both 4 months old and they have been inseparable — their Guardian told me. It was a no brainer.
I bundled them both into warm blankets, placed them in a basket, and drove home — all the while thinking how I was going to manage with two little dogs.
Thanksgiving was a week away and it turned out to be one of my most memorable ones, watching my two little angels running around the house and filling it up with joy.
Yesterday, Andre had a special date with Gina. We went with our furry family to place Andre's ashes in the same place as Gina's.
It was my last physical connection I had of my Andre before releasing him fully to join Gina.
Andre went with beautiful roses to present her on their special date. And I can see the both of them running together again — Gina, nipping at his legs, and Andre resting his head against Gina's tummy when they sleep.
I may not be completely convinced of true love between human partners — but I do strongly believe in a special, sacred love that animals can have with each other.
And I am less sad, knowing that Gina is now united with her Beloved.
