My happy tale begins half way through covid. My depression had hit an all time low and I was struggling to get out of bed. I decided I needed a companion. I looked through all the local rescues to see if I could find the perfect fit. At Allerton Cat Rescue I found a cat called Sally (I renamed her Tali from Mass Effect). She was from a farm and had recently been brought in and within a few days showed symptoms of cat flu. Her fur was dull, thin and you could see her bones. Her eyes looked into mine and just screamed help me, so I did. I made a safe space for her to decompress and recover from her illness. She had no energy so I fed her pieces of chicken until she had the strength to get up herself. It didn't take long for her to recover from the flu but I had a new challenge after that, earning her trust. It took many years but she went from a semi feral cat to a lap cat. She helped me with my depression more than anything and I'm grateful to her for being part of my life.
