I found you in the winter air,
a small soft soul wrapped in my coat,
your eyes unsure, your steps unsteady,
yet something in you whispered,

From that moment, in a quiet hotel room
half a world away,
you became a gift the Universe placed
into the open palms of my heart.
You grew into laughter, into light,
into boundless joy I could barely keep up with.
Because of you,
Nature became a friend -
the woods, the water, the wandering paths
all learned our footsteps.
Children shrieked with delight
whenever you passed,
strangers softened,
and even brief moments
turned into blessings because of you.
There are pages and pages
of joy you wrote into my life
with the gentle weight of your paws.
But now, my Darling,
as you enter your sunset days,
your teachings deepen.
Watching you slow down,
watching you struggle,
opened a chamber of tenderness inside me.
I sought wisdom from those
who understand the language of endings,
but it is you
who has been my truest teacher.
You taught me
to savor each breath of our time,
to stand still inside the Present moment,
to walk closer to my own Spirit
with quiet devotion.
You are showing me how to love
without holding tight,
how to stay Still
without clinging,
how to honor life
even as it bends toward its soft conclusion.
Caring for you now
is not sorrow -
it is a privilege.
It is an honor.
It is love in its purest form.
