Love, Loss, and the Gift of a New Pet

Dear Jack,
This is my precious girl’s story; she died at 16. She had CHF at 14 ½ and did good on meds; what got her was old age and sudden kidney failure. I had to put her to sleep. In my loss of her I found my new girl. She was a special angel. Just as special as my precious one, if not more! She is my fourth dog, my third pom. I love her so much!
If my precious girl hadn’t died, I wouldn’t have met my new girl. That’s what I said about others. If this one hadn’t died, I wouldn’t have met that one and if that one hadn’t died, I wouldn’t have met the next one.

That's exactly right! You are meant to love all of them and allow them to love you. They are your soul family here on earth. I am especially thrilled at how it all came about. Your precious one crossed the Rainbow Bridge and became your angel. Your new angel came into your life and has become precious. It’s all about love and transformation. I am so glad you can recognize how important this is and I hope that others will come to learn from you.
                                                           Love, Jack

At best it can be a complicated time, opening one’s heart to love again. Those who have had time to grieve and grow and who have made the decision to love again have found that it's not always an easy road. You can’t ever replace the one you love...and yet you can't help but compare the experience. It's never the same, although if you pay attention, you may see shards of your previous pet. When you get another pet, it gives us another way to reach you. To teach you. The most important thing is to stay open to love and the best way to stay open to love is to love again.
