Coping with Multiple Losses: Finding Strength and Hope After Grief

Dear Jack,
I lost my husband and my daddy, both of them this year. I feel so alone except for my new little kitten and my memories of my favorite girl, now gone over the Rainbow Bridge. I miss them all so much. Please Jack, do you have any advice for me that could help me deal with all this grief and sadness?

In my experience when you are bombarded with major losses such as this, one after the other, you are being called forth and being tested. The year Kate lost me she lost her father and her house and her boyfriend over a period of five months. It took her quite a long while to get through the dark times but when she finally came out of it, she was stronger than she had ever been before and it helped her to learn what is really worth being upset and worried about. When you learn to cope with the big things, the little things lose their power over you.

The little things are just little things, they pass. The big things like you have been through are big things and they make you stronger. Someday you'll see. Hang in there for you are doing better than you think you are. Keep sharing with others and let people love you. They will. Some of them also need to see how lucky they are that they have suffered only one loss. All those who love you over the Bridge are rooting for you and so am I.

Love, Jack
