Coping with Grief: A Letter of Comfort and Understanding After Loss

Dear Jack,
My boy has been gone six months. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. I question myself and have started to think that I'm just weird and disturbed...but I can't help but think of him, even if just a few seconds a day...he still crosses my mind...and I either smile or silently cry…perhaps I am a little crazy after all.

You are not crazy at all. It's the grief process making you feel that you are. The deeper into your heart we go, the deeper the love goes, the deeper the loss and the longer it can take to heal. Grief can be like a scratch that needs a Band-Aid or it can be a deep gash that needs lancing and time to heal. Keep the faith. Try not to judge yourself. It was the six-month mark that turned everything around for Kate. It’s what changed everything for us. Keep in mind also that when he is thinking of you, you will think of him, and vice versa. He is your counterpart in this. Of course he is thinking of you too…
Love, Jack
