Dexter is my almost 10 year old Yorkshire Terrier, that I got when he was 8 weeks old. He is my emotional support animal, recently retired due to health issues. He's the best companion I've ever had, so smart, so lovable, and just an all around great little guy.
He was diagnosed with pancreatitis about 2 years ago and put on medication to control it, which has subsided due to a special diet. Recently, he was diagnosed with Cushing's disease and severe anxiety, for which he takes medication for both. I would do anything for this baby, as he is the best puppy I've ever had.
He weighs 13.2 pounds, and absolutely loves everyone and everything. He has 2 sister's that are named Stanley and Chester, my sister's 2 cats, that play with him and he kisses Chester. He loves car rides and has traveled by car and airplane.
Recently, he stayed by my husband's side for 3 years, while my husband battled inoperable cancer, for which he did pass away in 2025, and Dexter became very depressed, because they were inseparable, even visiting him at the hospital.
Now my sister, who is a cancer survivor, has attached himself to her now, and never leaves her side. It's like he knew how very sick Jeff was and was glued to him, and now to my sister. Since moving in with my sister and her husband, my sister who has other medical issues, he has glued himself to her, and doesn't leave her side, like he really knows that there's issues with her.
I just have to say he's the smartest, most lovable dog I've ever owned. Being that he's battling his own health issues, he leads a very happy life with us, and hopefully he'll be around for quite a while. I love Dexter very much and I would do anything for him as he would do for me. Best boy in the world. ❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️
